Embodying Astrology: Dancing with the Cosmos

“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day and the night and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and for years”. Genesis 1:14

For everything under the Sun there is a season… come dance with me as we allow the unique beauty of your creation wheel (Natal Chart) to unfold before us. Allowing for deeper understanding of what has been formed uniquely inside of you, revealing immense rare gifts, talents, and life mission.

Spiritual Arts Expression – Every 4th Saturday

Who doesn’t love books?!?!!!? Old books. New books. Used books. Books you read every year. Books yet to be cracked open. Oh for the love of books.

With the feel of the pages between your fingers, the collection of words that transport you to distant ports, writings that beacons and stirs the Soul.

Books enchant us, teach us, remind us. They have the power to heal in extraordinary ways. A simple string of words can lift us to another world, into another state of being. Stroking, all the while, our imaginations.

If you are like me, your home is filled with shelves upon shelves of them. Admittedly, from time to time, they even take up precious floor space

Now of course there are many ways to utilize these precious treasures. However, a long held favorite…

turning a book into a wreath. It is one of the first things you’d see if you were to walk into my home. Warmly welcoming all my book wormy friends in for a cup of coffee and an afternoon of love and laughter.

You might be thinking, ‘are we able to create a book wreath without harming a good book in the process?’ To date, (and I have made many) still have yet to figured out a way. So yes, it does require the tearing of pages from the book’s spine and often this can causes a squeamish run up and down our own spine. Some have even had to look away.

But stick with me here folks. This same book could sit on your shelf for years to come. Perhaps, there might even be a day you’d want to pick it up to read again. But more likely than not it will just sit there collecting dust bunnies with all its other wordy friends. So let’s play with these beautiful pages. Allowing the time of rolling them into unified little bundles to bring a calm Peace with an inner knowing that you are creating something beauty-filled out of something you dearly love.

Supplies you’ll want to consider:

Wreath form: size does matter, consider how big you want your wreath to be and go from there. The pages once applied add another inch or two to the size. Plus.the larger the wreath the more book pages will be needed. Typically I utilize the styrofoam forms 12-16 inches. These are easily found in second hand stores, are light weight and hold up well structurally. Grapevine, is another good choice especially if you’d like some natural wood showing.

Books, Books, and more books!!!- pull one or five from your own collection, or second hand shops and used books stores are a great resource here. When picking out a book to use, feel the weight of the pages, too thin and the paper may tear, too thick may make it harder to roll. Sturdy pages, with beautiful lettering, on creamy 6 to 8 inch colored pages is what I look for. One of the more magical wreaths I created was from an old church hymnal for a friend’s music room. Have also created a number of smaller wreaths out of children books. They turn out colorful and whimsical. Get creative with your selection, hopefully this will be a beloved piece for years to come.

Ribbon to hang the wreath

Thin but sturdy thread to tie the pages

Glue gun and glue sticks.
